Giving back...
At b.a we believe it is our duty to be good stewards of all resources. This includes not only donating a portion of proceeds to causes that promote our goal, but also donating time in our community to make a difference. If we all did a little just imagine the impact we could have!
www.lovewithoutboundaries.com As an adoptive Mom to two little girls who were born in China, this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. b.a. is about empowering women and the women of China face very difficult decisions everyday regarding their daughters. Led by a group of volunteer Moms, Love Without Boundaries began in the year 2003, after a group of adoptive parents came together to help save the life of one tiny boy in China. Following his successful heart surgery, they realized that people with a pure love for helping children can truly make a difference. In 2007, LWB delivered over one million dollars of direct humanitarian aid to children, while maintaining an overhead of less than 3%.
www.communityactioncouncil.com Lewis House believes that home should be a safe place, a place to find love and support. Every day in our work, we are confronted with the harsh reality that for some, home is anything but safe. Unfortunately, for thousands of women and children, home can be frightening, lonely and for many it is a very dangerous place. Domestic violence is a serious social problem that has far-reaching effects.
Timbali Crafts www.timbalicrafts.org Swaziland is a small country in Southern Africa. Over 40% of the population is HIV positive, there are more than 120,000 orphans, and the life expectancy for women is the lowest in the world, at only 33 years. Around the country, feeding centers have been created to help provide regular meals for the many orphans who lack proper care. The majority of these care points are run by women, who themselves are also facing many hardships as the result of the HIV/AIDS crisis.
Timbali Crafts was started in 2006 to help generate an income for the 45+ women who work as volunteer cooks at the eight feeding centers in the rural area of Engculwini. Crafts sales allow the women to earn an income for their families, and also continue on with their volunteer work, which is vital to their community. Timbali Crafts also seeks to reach out to the spiritual needs of the women, through regular Bible studies, retreats and special events.
